Min-Soo, a young doctor in present day South Korea, lives in fear of his parents discovering his homosexuality. His solution: to marry his pretty co-worker Hyo-Jin, who lives in the apartment across the hall with her lesbian lover. Both can then pretend to live together and pass themselves off as heterosexual. All seems to go well until Min-Soo’s parents begin to get suspicious, forcing Min-Soo to realize that living only to please others often does everyone more harm than good.

In the early years of the AIDS pandemic, HIV-positive activists - literally fighting for their lives - took on Washington and Big Pharma by forming ACT UP (The AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) and TAG (Treatment Action Group). Combining theatrical protests with self-taught scientific training, these heroic groups both gave a sense of purpose to the dying and shook up the medical and governmental bureaucracies.

Shirin is struggling to become an ideal Persian daughter, politically correct bisexual and hip young Brooklynite. But she’s not quite anything enough. After being dumped by her girlfriend Maxine, Shirin faces an unimaginable task: trading the idyllic lesbian haven of Park Slope for a shared artist’s loft in Bushwick. Unable to let go of the memories of their excruciating highs and lows, the endearingly superficial narcissist finds herself plotting to win back her ex.

Estela learns that her daughter Ruth, of around 40 years old, is a lesbian, and that the "friend" that has been living with her during the last 14 years is in fact her girlfriend. After overcoming the shock, Estela tries to understand the rules of an unknown world, getting into it. Meanwhile Ruth, who is going through a difficult moment in her relationship, feels her mother's curiosity as an intrusion.
